Your Success Team Begins With One Good Friend
By Kj Cash of Freedom Compass
My friend, Ben, and I both need to create new websites. We’ve let our system guide lay idle for two weeks. Together we have been gathering snippets of information on marketing and creating websites for years, but we’ve never actually carried it through and got it done. Every program we previously studied was good but created such a puzzle with numerous pieces. We always felt like we were missing something, but now we have everything we need to create our businesses laid out step-by-step and all packaged together. Today, I had flash of inspiration. I first had to think about what was holding me back from completing this project. • Lots of information to go through. Even though it's step-by-step, it's quite a process. • I have so many ideas for websites. I’m afraid I won’t choose the right one. My website plus all the instruction and optimizing tools to create it was a $300.00 investment for me. I just want to do this right. • I’m afraid that I’ll regret my choice or see that I could have done better after I get it completed. I helped create my current website with its companion blog site. I created it without the aid of the system that I’m currently using. There is so much room for improvement. • So many questions. Do I rebuild my current site or build a new one? If I build a new one, do I choose another subject matter or do better with the subject matter at hand? Do I reform my old site and go on to build a new and better one? Same subject or different? Eventually both? Where should I logically begin? • I have so many other things going on right now. Questions or not, I need to follow Nike’s advice and JUST DO IT! Maybe I will have to trial and error my way through the process, but that is better than sitting around fretting and doing nothing. I have been forced to prioritize. I’ve wanted to learn to build a really good website since 1995. Now, I have my chance. I can’t believe I’ve let it sit idle for two weeks with all this analysis paralysis! I asked Ben if we could report to each other our daily progress and hold each other accountable. The system we are using to design our websites is organized into ten daily steps. A day is figurative in this program, so we will give ourselves two days to complete each step. Also, if an idea makes it to Day Five and then doesn’t pass all of Day Five’s tests, then you go back to Day Two and begin again. I am not opposed to this process. I think it’s smart, but I need someone to report to and keep me motivated. Ben agreed that it would also help him to report to me. Then he upped the stakes by saying we should set a penalty for ourselves if we did not submit our daily reports and make our two-day goals. He said one guy he heard about made a committment to do the one thing he hated more than anything else—clean bathrooms. He would clean his friend’s bathroom if he didn’t meet his deadline. The other friend got a can of dog food and set it out on his counter. If he didn’t meet his deadline, he would eat a can of Alpo. Ben and I don't need the threat of eating Alpo to stay motivated enough to get this done. If Ben doesn’t meet his deadlines, he will clean the living room for his college buddies. I don’t know what that living room looks like, but I can imagine. Ben estimates that this will take four hours, several trips unloading goods to the charity thrift store, and posting stuff online to sell. I am going to run a mile if I don’t make my own self-imposed deadlines. We both need motivation, and we can provide it for each other. If there is something you would like to accomplish, set up a system of accountability with a friend. Keep each other motivated and on track. There are no self-made millionaires in this world. All millionaires have built a team to back their success. Your success team can begin with just one good friend.

Contributor's Note
Ben and I have been studying for years. We're not 100% sure where the Alpo/bathroom cleaning story originated, but we think it came from Eben Pagan who offers a number of valuable resources for the seeker of online biz info.
